Question Connecting a headphone amp?

I've just bought a Pro-Ject Head Box and have plugged it directly into my CD player ( Technics SL-PG 480A ). Sounds pretty good even with my knackered old Panasonic headphones ( to be replaced with Sennheiser HD 250's).
However the instruction manual says it should be connected to the main amplifier ( Musical Fidelity E1 ) and run through the tape monitor facility.
I don't have any spare interconnects on hand to experiment at the moment and just wondered if any of the experts here could tell me which way is best, even in theory?

Re: Connecting a headphone amp?

Running it through the tape monitor means that you can listen to headphones out of anything that's plugged into your integrated. Running it directly out of the CD player is however the best way to get the signal to your amp.

Shortest, most direct connection will always be best.
