Question Fake CX300 from AMAZON? - PLEASE HELP

(This carrys on from my previous thread) Sent my ebay fakes back and purchased some off amazon, they have the 90° silver plug, but came in a small sealed silver backed bag with no documentation just a sticker on the front (exactly like the ebay fakes) surely if you pay 20 odd quid for phones they should come in proper packaging
and i have got to say they sound the same as the fakes a very dull deep sound, surely these cant be fake off amazon can they?

what is the packaging supposed to be like, are there any other distintive signs, the first pair off ebay had a rubbery lead, the amazon phone leads are 'plasticky'

i am getting really p****** off Please help, i may have to send these back rapid so i can get a refund.

cheers

If they are Sennheiser original CX300's they should come in a "Blister Pack". AFAIK, there are no other package forms from Sennheiser.

If you're not happy or simply unsure, send them back to Amazon and ask for replacements.

I can confirm that the set I got from Play.com came in a blister pack with a warrantly leaflet and spare rubber things which were in a small plastic bag sealed with tape and a staple.

The packaing was dark blue if I remember correctly with a flash of yellow and gray perhaps.

Mine have a 90 degree silver jack and the lead is like a firm rubbery feel, if that makes sense.

Perhaps your are Amazon returns?

Also, did you get them from Amazon themselves of one of the eBay-like sellers on Amazon?

If you're not happy then return then and get some from Play.com

For what it's worth, as someone who posted about getting cx300's from Amazon, I bought them from Amazon direct, not a marketplace seller. I can confirm that when delivered, they came exactly as you would expect and as described by others here (except that the cardboard back of the blister pack is a pale duck egg blue, not that unlike the background colour of these forums!).

I borught mine from Hughes today!

It came in proper plastic packaging sealed etc.

Trust me though, you will know if they are fake because the sound quality on the real things is astonishing. And the bass is......er.....crazy!!

I received mine from an Amazon Marketplace seller yesterday and they came in a blister pack (where the plastic appears to have been 'pressed' onto a cardboard background - it's hard to break open) with a dark grey background and a lighter grey and yellow insert. The spare earplugs and warranty were in a small plastic bag above the headphones. I believe that seems to be the hallmark of genuine CX300s. Oh, and the sound. It's phenomenal.

I just bought a pair last night from Dixons. They appear genuine, because the packaging is as described, and the sound excellent, but I got no warranty leaflet with mine

Well if you bought from the amazon marketplace then of course they can be fakes. Marketplace is like ebay.

I would have thought the £5 you save from marketplace versus amazon wasnt worth the risk when it comes to things like earphones memory sticks etc i.e where having the original item is key.

I bought some Etymyotics or whatever they are called from amazon marketplace and found them to be fake. They sounded so crap that the standard earphones that came with my ipod was better.

In my opinion never buy earphones other than at reputable places and definitely not on ebay even if the seller has 2000 100% positive feedback as some fakes still circle around from such apparently trustworthy people.

But you can't trust the real etailers either. Amazon have been caught selling fake sony memory sticks in the past. AFAIK the only difference between fake and genuine was the way the packaging was sealed. You just have to check everything from everyone.

Hmmm, well I plan on buying some CX300's from the Amazon marketplace for £16.99 within the next few days. To be honest, this thread hasn't really put me off getting it from there. If there was a problem, I'm sure through Amazon there wouldn't be any trouble refunding/exchanging them.

Re: Fake CX300 from AMAZON? - PLEASE HELP

My marketplace seller was rub_a_dub and they were packed in the proper sealed retail packaging. They're not the cheapest anymore though. There's only the cheapest one at £14.75 that mentions 'wholesale' packaging which may be fakes, the other ones all say genuine sealed packaging.

Amazon themselves are only £22.99 with free delivery though and as said above all those marketplace sellers will charge nearly £5 for delivery. So if you want extra peace of mind just get them from amazon themselves.

Re: Fake CX300 from AMAZON? - PLEASE HELP

Apparently you can use these pics to check if your CX300s are fake, I'm just gonna check mine-

http://forum.whsle.biz/index.php?showtopic=125

edit: Mine are genuine

Looks like the easiest way to spot fakes is the wire from the L/R split to your right ear should be 50 cm, not around 32-34 cm. Assuming the info in that link is correct.
