Question Advice on which headphones needed?

Hi, I've just found this board and am posting because I need some help. My old headphones are falling apart and I don't know which to replace them with, although I do know the specifications I need, please can you advise me.

I would prefer closed back circum-aural headphones but they must be comfortable and go down as far as 5Hz - I am using binaural beat meditation CDs and this is the requirement they suggest. My budget is limited, up to £30-40 but I don't mind second hand.

I was thinking of Sennheiser HD280 (from Ebay) but then realised they only go down to 8Hz. Other options are Technics RP-DJ1200or 1210 or Sony MDR V700DJ but I haven't read many reviews about either and would appreciate your opinions.

Re: Advice on which headphones needed?

First thing I would say is be very careful when it comes to the figures. I have been seduced by the dark side when it comes to low figures but have been disappointed with what I heard.

I always look for headphones below 15Hz preferably, (although I have 2 pairs of Grado’s)

I found that although the techniques headphones boasted low figures, the relative Sennheiser (for your price range) outgunned them.

I would try a pair of Beyers if you can find them for a low price. Personally I’ve never brought from ebay before. What model is down to what bargains you can find.

Avoid the HD280 if you want good bass - they dont have good bass. Very light in the bass from what i've heard.

As far as I'm concerned, the bassiest headphones i've encountered are the Beyerdynamic DT770.
