I have just returned these to Amazon because they were just too 'bassey' and hurt my ears, i real shame because because the sound quality was excellent!! Any one know of any over the ear headphones with about the same sound quality but not so 'boomey', i dont want to have canal phones because i like to go to bed listning to my music on my sony nwa3000
Cheers and look forward to some replies?

Re: Sennheiser Px 100

Hi
i found the Px-100's very bassy to begin with but you have to allow them time to settle in. After a coupleof weeks I found the bass settled down to a normal level. Excellent phones.

PX200. A little more expensive but have much less bass and a better overall balance IMO.

Woops another debate here. I have heard both and own the PX200 the 200 are more bassy than the px100 as they are also closed back.

Re: Sennheiser Px 100

Well it could depend on what you will be using your headphones with. If you are using a device with customisable eq settings then you can simply reduce the bass output until your Px100's/PX200's have settled in. That's the solution I found when using my PX100's with my Creative Zen Vision M. What will be your main device you will be using?

Re: Sennheiser Px 100

I will be using a sony nwa3000, i have ordered them again, i didnt know i needed to settle them in! the reason i bought them was because as i am getting older 'in ear' headphones are not good for my ears, and these we supposed to help my ears from hurting not cause them too!

Good stuff. What type pf music do you normally listen to? I have been very pleased with my PX100's-best headphones I have ever used yet.

Classic rock - Maiden, led zep, sabbath, motorhead, the beatles, stones etc and star wars, kraftwerk!

Re: Sennheiser Px 100

Judging by that type of music you will want some decent kind of bass level. I listen to Kraftwerk myself and the PX100's play them beautifully on various mp3/hard disk players I have. You should really like them.

Re: Sennheiser Px 100

Yes! Kraftwerk did sound really good! the bass is not as heavy with kraftwerk compared to say motorhead, so should i just leave them over night plugged in with a cd playing on repeat for a couple of weeks to 'run' them in?? would that help! Amazon are going to think i'm mad i have just recieved a refund for them and have bought them again??

Re: Sennheiser Px 100

Hi Maidenpriest
Yes, that is one way to to burn them in but I just let them play as normal and within 2 weeks they had settled in nicely. I hope the device you use them on has customisable eq settings as this is essential with any kind of decent headphones. I now encode my CD's at 192kps-makes a noticeable improvement to bass quality.

Re: Sennheiser Px 100

no probs Maidenpriest. Just to add to what I said earlier when my Px100's had finally "broken in" I initially thought something had gone wrong as the bass levels had dropped so much! Then I realised this was their optimal operating bass level! Enjoy!
