Re: cheapest place to get the e500?

eBay is your friend. Look at ebay uk then search for 'shure e500' with dealers that post to UK. If you find one look at their ratings you may even see a feedback by me 'reano7' on there. If yes buy from them. They are fast and cheap (can't remember maybe £220 <--- cheap in comparison to UK that is). I'm now going to get rid of my Westone UM2 so it takes the sting out of the tail of buying them for that much will do a comparison soon but so far really good.

Re: cheapest place to get the e500?

Shure have placed restrictions on their distributors only allowing them to seel within their own geographic area. Same thing that Grado do as well. For us poor UK saps that means the UK distributors charge what they like and they like more money than their US counterparts.

If you don't trust Ebay then you'll need to find a US buddy to beuy them on your behalf and send them over - even if you get hit with customs duty & tax etc it'll still be much cheaper then the UK prices.

Mine are coming via a US friend as a favour but just the one pair as you can't abuse your mates can you.

Steve

PS
Head-fi forum seems in a bit of a dither over whether the UM2s are better then the E500s - which seems odd as the Shure E5s were more popular then the UM2s. I'll be keeping my UM2s though whether the E500s are better or not.

I like my UM2 and they cost me £150 (inc postage) again from eBay so cheap in compaison to the e5c. I have now heard both and I find the e500 better in bass, mid range (especially) and even the feel, look and the tight fit of the earphone adapters. I just cannot justify keeping both especially as they are both in ear phones.

PS if I had a mate in the US he would be used very frequently Do you share buddies? Mind you I have family in Canada.
