Little Dot II+ died, trying this alternative instead:

My LDII+ had an intermittent fault on the left channel so David Pang kindly offered me a refund. It's a very nice sounding amp for £80 and recommend it if you're on a tight budget. It gets very hot and is very microphonic however. David is a nice bloke to deal with, incidentally.

I'm going to make the same mistake twice and buy another unheard of HK design/made amp: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=020

Spec looks pretty interesting. I guess it's a mini-integrated amp (12wpc) with a pair of headphone outs. I doubt the headphone outs are of decent quality, as they appear to be peripheral to the main design. Still, I only use headphones for functional, rather than audiophile ends, so this isn't of huge concern to me.

Just think it's cute - it uses tubes and it'll be cool to have a second mini-amp in the bedroom (although I doubt it will drive my monitors with much conviction!).

Will let you know how I get on with it, in due course.

DT

That is, assuming the bloody thing actually works.

Hiya

Well im probably going to buy a LD II+ (in black :D) in teh next few weeks to pair with my HF-1's, and new cd-63 that is arriving next week ready for a full complement of mods !! (Ive killed 2 players already by being a silly billy)

What problem did yours have, as i have read on head-fi about a few that have electrical arcing in the tubes and sometimes even teh earphones themselves

That amp your looking at looks quite cool, but this xiang sheng 708 amp is also very highly regarded:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/708B-Class-A-S...QQcmdZViewItem

You could try that one instead of the other one your looking at

With my LDII+ im looking at putting some bitumen sound deadening on teh inside and some sorbothane feet on the bottom to reduce the microphonics drastically. Il probably replace the blue power LED too so the amp will match my new PC :D

Let me know what you get, impressions, and get some pics up !
