Sennheiser HD555's. Or?

Well I've been looking for a pair of headphones for home theater and gaming.

I've heard good things about the HD555's but I'm still not too sure I want to spend the money on them.

Anyone have any reviews on them? Can anyone suggest another pair of headphones for the same price (I'll go as high as $150) that are higher quality?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I got a pair of these for about £50 from Ebay. Use them for TV / DVDs, laptop and PS2. Had them for about 2 months, been very good until recently, but now seem to be playing up watching recorded programs from Sky+ (see thread I previously submitted).

For my next set I will probably think about some noise cancelling ones - I was trying to watch Deadwood on my laptop last night and I had to have the volume turned up very loud to drown out the terrible noise of my wife watching Big Brother

I've owned a pair of 555's for a month now and am quite happy with them. I paid £55 for them from some dealer on eBay. For the first 50 hours, they're pretty awful, so don't skimp on the running-in (sound plasticky and have no dynamics otherwise).

Now they've bedded-in and offer quite a respectiable sound and build quality for the money.

Re: Sennheiser HD555's. Or?

I have owned my 555's since january, and agree below the 50 hour mark they sound awful. However maybe after 80- 100 hours they loosen up again. I am very pleased with them, Not too heavy, tight, detailed bass, clear treble that however does distort very slightly at higher volumes. For your 50 quid off ebay I think you cant do any better. Also if you have an MP3 player, most players seem easily capable of driving them, which is also handy. have fun deciding.
