Does anyone have an experience of the Silent Cinema headphone mode that Yamaha amps have built-it?

How does it compare to something like the Philips HD1500 or similar products?

Are the Philips headphones special or is it the decoder box that does the clever stuff? If so then a Yammy Amp and some decent headphones may be ok.

I have used both, the Philips are the better imo. More convincing surround effects and excellent bass, plus cordless. The Silent cinema is good, but not as good as far as I can tell
