Dolby Digital headphones.

Can anyone recomend any Dolby Digital headphones for sensible money that actually produce a good surround effect. Unfortunately my cinema room is next door to my parents bedroom and i get complaints every tyime i am watching the system when they go to bed.
I have a pair of Sony MDR-CD570's which sound good but are rapidly disintegrating so i thought the obviouse upgrade would be for a surround effect model.

Cheers,

Andy.

Creative HQ2300D

Cheap on eBay, have an external decoder and headphones, the decoder runs off AA batteries and its got 2 headphone outputs, decodes DTS/DD and provides Dolby Headphone.

With movies, its pretty amazing for the money and if you upgrade the headphones, even better.

I have the Creative HQ2300d which I use with my Xbox 360.

I have to say, they are amazing. The surround effect is supurb, very immersive.

Its not as good as a true 5.1 speaker system but for £30 they really are fantastic.

Careful now. I am an ex-owner of the Pioneer SE-DIR800C surround headphones, but I have to admit, I felt the surround effect wasnt all that convincing, and in pretty much every respect, they were thumped by even fairly modest stereo hifi headphones.

I recommend you dont waste your money and buy some stereo headphones from which you will get far great bang for your buck.

to be honest, i had the pioneer dolby headphones and i sold them because the surround effect wasn't very good. The philips HD1500 on the otherhand are awesome and the effect is amazing.

As these are impossible to get hold of in the UK, i would go for the Creative HQ2300D or JVC SU-DH1 (import from US), ditch the headphones and use some decent ones (i use the Goldring DR150 and the effect is awesome). Open type headphones seem to work better than the closed type.

Thanks for the input guys. I have decided to put off getting them untill the beginning of next year as i have a ski-ing holiday to pay for now

In the meantime keep your opinions rolling in and by the time i have the money to get some i might be able to narrow it down a bit.
I am a bit undecided as to go for surround effect or stereo now though. I have a pair of Sure E2C's, would i get just as good results just getting an extention for these? I might do this anyway as a temporary measure.

Cheers,

Andy.

To be honest, i cant really see the shures being any worse than some half shaft surround headphones.

Never heard the philips ones people keep going on about but the pioneers to me were pretty disappointing. Luckily for me i made a profit on them
