read around the net and ppl rec'd that its better get a good pair of cans than those 5.1 headphones. are these open air phones good for surround? how bad is sound leak? bothersome to ppl around you? how does axxx series compare? which is closed.

You won't get surround with a regular pair of headphones. I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve. Are you comparing the ATH-Axxx to a pair of Dolby phones?
