Question Shure E2C vs Sony earphones

Hi guys I currently use Sony's MDR-EX81 earphones which are £35 but am looking at the Shure E2C as they seem reasonable value for money but I am really into my bass and clarity of course in sound and have always stuck with the Sony top line earphones costing £35 a time.

Are the Shure E2C good for bass? As in perhaps better than the Sony's bass because I have read many reviews stating the sound quality is very good however its the bass that I wish to do the comparison with to make up my mind.

Many thanks!

Forget both of them, I've heard them both, and both are comfortably beaten in sound quality by the new Sennheiser CX300.

I've written all about it here.

They are between £30 and £40.

And let me say, if you want good bass, the Sennheiser has it in droves. The Shure is better than the Sony though, to answer your question more specifically.

I got the Shures as i went through 3 paris of the 81's, and i have nothing but trance club music (alot of bass) on my player, and i am MORE than happy with them actually when you have thme side by side i couldnt help but laugh as how badly the SOnys are built.

The Shures have Bass, but its just sharper, beats come through with alot more impact while not intereferring with the rest of the tones.

I would hightly recommend them, Amazon had them at the best price when i was buying them.

I've had sony semi-in-ear phones and shure e2c. The sonys had louder bass due to 'bass boost' but the shure are much more precise and deliver the music how it should be. Of course, if you find the bass lacking then you can push it up a notch in the EQ

i would go for these http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.aspx available in black or white for the podders out there. excellent product, neat, superb sound & all round easier to use that the shure.

the shure i found are very fiddly - the cord hangs down your back instead of in front of you

I'd steer clear of Etymotic recommendations for bassheads. They have a generally leaner but more detailed sound signature than the Shures.

they are certainly bassier than the shures (i have both) the 6i's have enhanced bass. the 6's are non-enhanced

You can wear them either way...down the back or under the chin. Also because the are 'over the ear' type I've found them very secure, especially if the piece of transparent tupe is adjusted correctly.

I prefer the very flexible black rubber plugs, once their fitted properly don't notice they're there. Tried the foam plugs but didn't get on with them, made my ears itch!

The rubber plugs give a good seal, you can feel the suction release as you take them out.

yes i find the gel plugs easier & they dont show the dirt so much! i think with an ipod the foam are better & compensate for the ipods lack of bass.

now i have a nw-hd5 & dont need to find something to compensate. i find the hd-5 has good bass & a truer sound overall
