why have my earphones died on me

hi, i hope someone could help me out , i have a creative zen nomad jukebox and i bought a pair of philips and jvc earphones and both have only lasted a few days on 70 % volume , they are ok in the first few hours but slowly lose bass and then i can hardly hear anything even on full volume . i paid £10 each i know its not a vast amount but i thought i would get longer life . i checked my headphones i got with the mp3 and they are ok but they are too big to wear around town and work . i am not bothered about style and colour just a pair of earphones that i can use with my creative . thanks

similar thing happened to a pair of creative phones I bought, I didn't notice how long they took to die; I thought I was going deaf;-) I have had quite a few pairs of cheap phones and they all last till I break the wires..
