Need (standard) replacement cable for Sennhesier HD600 'phones - cheapest source?

I require a replacement cable for some Sennheiser HD600s (or, more precisely, my father requires one - but, as the 'phones were originally mine I feel some responsibility). I'm balking a bit at paying the standard £25-£30 price they seem to go for.

For example: http://www.sennheiserspares.com/inde...s/Page738.html

Are these cables available cheaper anywhere else?

I did come across this: http://www.thomann.de/thoiw2_artikel-178830.html

which it says is a replacement cable for the HD650, and is thus, presumably, compatible with the HD600 - but I'm not sure about its origins. Can anyone enlighten me? or suggest a cheaper source? Am I right that it's compatible with the HD600?

Oh, and please don't tell me to spend £150+ on an "upgraded" cable. That's just stupid.

You tried looking on eBay? Also why do you need replacement ones?

The HD650 cable is suitable for the HD600 and actually would be a good upgrade, the 650 cable is slightly more durable and a small incremental improvement.

Thomann are used quite a bit by the German head-fi members don't recall seeing bad things about them and some of the US are buying from them as their headphone prices are quite keen too.

Annoyingly the HD600/650 cables are only about $15 in the US so UK prices are a rip-off again!!

PS The Zu Mobius is really nice though.

Yes.

Because the old one is starting to crackle unless you keep absolutely still, indicating a poor connection internally.

They have a minimum order price of 25 euros, plus 10 euros shipping, which is rather tiresome.

Suitable cable is just $11.62 in america:

But of course they don't export.

Maybe there will be in 3 or 4 years' time - cables wear out, you know. The joints get weakened.

The Senn standard ones are fairly flimsy to start with

Thanks for the link to the Thomann site, i've been looking for a replacement cable for my 580's & the 650 replacement cable will fit them just fine( much cheaper as well ).

The latest HD650 cable is slightly thicker than the HD580/600 cables and will fit the HD580/600.

Odd really I have a nice almost unused HD650 cable sitting doing nothing. If I try to sell it, would the fair price be what the UK have to pay for one, or based on the cheaper US prices?

Should I ever decide to sell my HD650s and needed an original cable I'd face the same problem getting hold of one myself.

Thats why I'm keeping my 'standard cable' as I think you will get more selling the 'upgrade cable' separate to the headphone. I doubt I will sell as the kids like it and it's something 'hifi' I have handed down to them Even though they don't know it yet
