Medusa 5.1 hiss

Myself and a friend both have medusa 5.1 headsets (the normal ones with the amps not the usb ones).

We both get some hiss and noticed on another forum someone mention the following in relation to the medusas.

"something useful for those whos computers generate a lot of interference, a soft iron ring around the interconnect cables is very good for removing hiss"

Is this something that could be purchased from a hardware shop?

Thanks
