HD650's too bassy

Hi

Took the plunge on the plastic and bought a pair of 650's. Been using them for 2 hours now (I know - nowhere near breaking them in), they appear quite a bassy set of cans.

Anyone else find this?

Also how long does it take to break these babies in?

I used to have them. I wouldn't so much describe them as bassy, a better word would be dull

Be prepared for quite a wait to break em in - probably about 200 hours in total.

If anything I would say that the bass and treble are both slightly rolled off while the midrange is pushed slightly up. Maybe you're just not used to actually hearing deep bass at all through headphones - the better Sennheiser 'phones go a lot lower than cheaper 'phones, well into the deep subwoofer range.

Hmm, the treble is rolled off for sure, but the bass? Dont know about that, they are one dark sounding pair of phones to my ears... Remember that all headphones have slightly rolled bass because its difficult to produce much lower frequencies than about 30 Hz with any real authority.
