How's the Kenwood VRS-N8100 as a headphone amp?

Hi. The headphones in my Sony DS5100s will soon be approaching the end of their lifespan. Rather than just buy another set of headphones for them, I'm thinking this might be a good excuse to upgrade.

I was originally looking at Philips' much-delayed set of surround headphones, until I came across talk of Kenwood's 7100 & N8100 recievers. The combination of Dolby Headphones with TI's excellent digital amplification (not to mention that cool stuff it can do through ethernet) looks to be a winner. And once I factor in the fact that I won't need to buy a switchbox for my audio cables, it isn't that much more expensive than the Philips unit.

Has anyone else been using one of these as a headphone amp? I'd love to hear your impressions and experiences with it.

Thanks!
