A40 mixAmp - what headset

I am thinking of getting one of these - either the set for £200 or the amp for £100 and then a good set of headphones.

the concern i have is that whilst the majority of posts on here suggest that you can get a better set of headphone for £100 than the ones that come with the amp, i have seen some reviews which suggest that the only head phones that are actually designed to work with the amp are the ones it comes with.

one review even says that the head phones that come with the amp have more drivers in the ear piece ie the review is critical of "stereo headsets".

i thought that the head set with the amp was a stereo headset rather than a 5.1 headset.

i am confussed.

i was going to get a set of AD700 to go with the amp as that seems a recomended set up for the same price as the amp set.

Re: A40 mixAmp - what headset

Many people use the AD700 with the mixamp.

5.1 with headphones is a crock anyway, more drivers don't equal better quality sound and separation - better drivers do, and you only need two. Many reviewers out there are from PC mags and gaming sites, that are trying to flog tech and not sound.

Absolutely choose the headphone first. They make the biggest difference to how you hear sound, and the quality you get, not amps.

Re: A40 mixAmp - what headset

No, there only one AD700 model. The other is probably the A700, a closed headphone.
