Newb question. Sorry if I come across as such.
I am trying to find out the best way to put together a secondary system so that I can sit in the front room and listen to my Grado SR80i headphones while 'er indoors is watching Corro (or similar drivel). I have a budget of £200 (which can flex up to £300 if necessary), which is tight but should be able to achieve something that's enjoyable to listen to, but have been left confused by conflicting advice.
One person I spoke to suggested that I would get best results splitting my budget 50/50 between a headphone amp such as the
Project Headbox II and a lesser CD player. The other said that I should just spend the lot on a better CD player with a headphone jack out. Which is correct? Any advice about appropriate CD players or headphone amps in either case would also be greatly appreciated.
