how to tell if you've blown your headphones?

Hi,
I own a pair of Audio Technica AD700 open dynamic headphones that I use with an astro mixamp for console gaming and movie watching.

I've owned these headphones for nearly 2 weeks now and have been happy with them. However, I've been playing a game on my 360 that has really loud sections. At these sections my headphones give out a buzzing sound at the loudest point of the loud sound. (imagine an explosion and buzzing at the loudest bit).

I'm now paranoid that I've some how blown them or they are faulty. I've tested them in other games and movies and am now paranoid that I can hear similar buzzing during similar loud sections.

They also occassionally make a single popping sound at the start of some gameplay videos that I watch through my 360 or when I change channel when watching sky.

I appreciate people wont be able to diagnose faulty headphones unless they hear them, but is there anything I can try to test to see if these headphones are faulty? Or does it sound as if I'm being paranoid due to the bad experience I've had with the game?

any help or advice would be really appreciated.

Jamie
