Upgrade from PX-200, to Grado SR 60/80/125?

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my headphones - currently using Sennheiser PX-200s at work and then some crappy earphones for walking around. I really like the look of the Grado SR60/80/125s, and I should think they'll probably sound better than these too...

However - I work in a pretty quiet office, and I'm worried about noise leakage. Could anyone tell me how the Grados would directly compare to my current PX-200s - and whether it's not worth considering Grado at all because they're so leaky?

Many thanks,
BC.

Re: Upgrade from PX-200, to Grado SR 60/80/125?

All open phones will leak about the same - depending on volume you have them at.

Take the PX off at your normal listening volume and put them down on a table with the cups facing up (if poss). That's about how much open phones leak.

If that's not a problem, any of the Grado's will sound better, but the 125 is a sweet spot.

Hi,

I have the same Sennheisers and have just upgraded to Grado 80is. Was a little underwhelmed by Grados appearance and construction but sound was excellent. Open backed but with an open sound, good detail and tight bass. They do leak sound but they are an honest piece of equipment that certainly punch above their weight. Shop around. I got mine for well under £100.
