Exclamation Sennheiser RS 110 vs. Sony MDR-XB500 - help appreciated

Quite a clash in styles I know...

I need them for gaming/movies/music as the missus keeps stealing my only half decent pair of headphones - Sennheiser HD202's - which were only meant to be a cheap put-me-on, but they turned out to be quite comfortable and the sound is very good considering their price-tag.

Ive been looking at the Sennheiser RS range for the last 2 years now and whilst I am a fan of Sennheiser im worried about the sound quality being poor for the sake of no cables. Like a mug I bought some cheapo wireless headphones from Play.com a few months ago that got an hours use before being thrown in a draw because of the infuriating hissing whenever there was a quiet-ish moment in a film/game/music.

On the other hand the Sony MDR-XB range has caught my eye recently because of those oh-so-lush cushions, lol! I convinced them to let me try a pair of the XB500's at the Sony Centre and they really were supremely comfortable, but the sound was on very low so I couldn't judge that side of things.

If it helps they will be used mainly for late-night gaming (Gears Of War etc.), all kinds of movies and mainly rock & metal music (but then again I listen to all sorts depending on my mood, lol!)

Minimal sound leakage is preferred as well.

Im not looking to spend a fortune so I'd say my maximum budget is about £60 considering how little I use my current pair.

Any help HUGELY appreciated

i have just bought a pair of RS 110's for a song on ebay, will let you know what they sound like on my 360 when they arrive by posting here,

i would have liked to go for the RS 120/130's ,but there are no bargains on ebay, so plumped for these first to see if they deliver what i am after...i have a decent rechargeable stack of AAA batteries, so it isnt really an issue.

if they ever arrive that is, currently waiting in a backlog from Mr Postman i reckon

Re: Sennheiser RS 110 vs. Sony MDR-XB500 - help appreciated

Well, got the cans yesterday, and have to say, I am pleased

I am using them primarily for 360 gaming, they provide a nice crisp sound, with a small amount of hiss which i found can be minimised with some fine adjustment of the tuning wheel on the headset, although this hiss is in no way overpowering or overly noticeable when engrossed in whatever you are doing

Not a massive amount of bass on them, but they serve my purpose completely, and although they are the entry level 'phones, with AAA batteries instead of a charging cradle, i cant fault them for the £20 i paid for them, sound is clear and sharp and as loud as you would want it

They are my first ever pair of wireless though, and as such i have nothing to measure them against in terms of sound quality, but the build quality is excellent, and they beat the bananas out of sitting there with my wired headphones on, forgetting the lead coming out of the telly and then standing up, only to wrench my ears off (yes, that happened quite a lot)

All in all, v pleased indeed
