Sennheiser hd228 + Ipod nano volume issue

I have a 5g 8gb Ipod nano, and wanted some 'over ears' headphones to go with it. On the strength of reviews on the web, i decided on the Sennheiser hd 228's. Whilst straight out of the box (i'm aware they're not run in yet) they sound ok, the volume through them is rubbish. They have been specially 'optimzed' for portable mp3 use, but frankly, the volume just isn't high enough. Now i'm not a volume freak or anything, but i'd expect the volume when flat out on my ipod, to be too loud for a 'specifically designed for ipods' pair of headphones. Is it just me?? Am i missing something??
I'm also aware of the EU volume limit on my ipod, but surely it should be louder???

Re: Sennheiser hd228 + Ipod nano volume issue

I get the same issue with my sennheiser 218s the volume just aint loud enough. I use px200s now and they are a little louder.

Its that stinking eu volume cap when the eu brings in laws on peoples own ears 500 million have to suffer

Re: Sennheiser hd228 + Ipod nano volume issue

Think i'll stick with my Senny in-ears. Much better sound, now that i've put some Comply foam tips on them.
