Audio hog

I've decided to go down the route of getting a headphone set up for gaming at home.
1. As COD4 is quite invasive sound wise!
2. I want to be better

After much research I have decided to go down the A40 mixer amp route as that way I get a decent set of cans that I can use for studio/music listening too.

So the A40 mixer amp is going to be coupled with either some Goldring DR150s or some Sennhesier HD555.

I've heard that the DR's are better as they are a little dryer.
Also I understand that the open backs give a better sound than closed as there are less reflections etc. How bad is the leakage on the open backs?? (I could always get some Beyer 770s or 880's)

Also I can't find any Zalman mic's for the uk... I also have read very mixed reviews and understand that it really needs a preamp. Are the ones you get from Maplin that require a battery for about £20 much better and suitable?

Cheers

MR Strat
