Sennheiser HD228 and HD238

Hiya guys,

Headphones died today so need to pick some new ones up tomorrow (need sound in my job or i go nuts).

Sadly, I have to go to Comets to get them so am aware i will be paying over the odds...lol.

The two models in the title have got my attention for various qualifying reasons, just wondering if anyone has experience of either?

I'm looking for a sound thats not far removed from my Monitor Audio speakers in respect of having decent deep bass, but clean and tight. Dont mind if the treble is a little warmer than my speakers tho.

Any comments welcome, or alternative on-ear models (not over ear or in-ear) that can be bought in store tomorrow at the Hendon branch of Comets.

Cheers folks

Knyght

bit late lol but the hd238's are meant to be much better than the 228's

I have a pair and they are amazing, over at head-fi they are being compared with headphones twice or three times their price! Search head-fi and you'll find out more information

Re: Sennheiser HD228 and HD238

cheers, its ok, I got them. Almost dropped to the 228's to save some money, but then noticed on the packaging in the shop a bass-o-meter with almost all bars lit up.....which means they are flooded with bass to offset the lack of bass on a lot of mp3 recordings. Not what I want.

So, I got the 238's and am fairly happy with them. Need a headphone amp now tho, these puppies are hard to drive. Even my netbooks output wont go loud enough and my phones output is limited as well with these.

Ever so slightly heavy on the bass for my liking at the moment, but they do appear to be losing that slight muddiness so I'm guessing its a wear them in type thing.

love the light airyness, although didnt realise they were openback jobs, not so great for work as it means having them on lower volume but hey ho.
