Recomend me some noise cancelling headphones

First up hello everybody, I oftern read here but this is the first time I have posted.

What I want is a decent set of noise cancelling headphones for my Ipod. Money is not too important. If you can recomend a £30 set then great but, I am after quaility and if their good value or exeptional quality I could push to £300 but £150 is a sweet spot.

Im not to worried about 100% perfect studio quality flat sound as i will be using them for mp3's mostly rock like pink floyd, pearl jam and a bit of bass heavy massive attack

Must have:
Closed cans
noise cancelling...I work in datacenters and my wife likes to put the dishwasher, tumble and washing machine on all at once, then comes in a drys her hair.
Good value (note not cheep)
Be useable without an amp, straight out of the ipod

Must not have:
Definatly 100% not in ear-buds
Other people should be able to hear my music.

Re: Recomend me some noise cancelling headphones

the more money you spend, generally the greater the need for an amplfier :D

at the risk of being burned at the stake, i could say maybe try some bose triports, they are about £120. All my knowledge of headphones runs to a Modded X-Fi card, HD595, ASIO output on Foobar2000 and flac files. I only really know open cans.

Maybe have a look at headfi... Head-Fi.org: Headphones, iPod earphones, portable audio, MP3 players, high-end audio
