Headphones - inny or outy?

Can inner ear headphones be as good as, um, outer ones? Just interested in general thoughts as I will be replacing mine...

(Just bought an MP3 CD player from Dixons for £40 (half price). Ok, so it's made by Packard Bell and not the pinnacle of audio technology, but for sounds on the move, it's a bit of a bargain for those of us on a budget. Good sound, good battery life, light and not too big - result! Almost makes up for Woolies not selling me the Alien Quadrology DVD boxset for £27.99 today )

D.
