Grado GR8 In Ear

Search came up with nothing related so thought id post....

Anyone got these and what are peoples thought's?
After browsing the Grado Site noticed the GR8 In Ears and was curious, Have Senn CX300 and Shure SE210's in ears for portables and Senn HD280pros for Games/Music/TV and Grado SR60's for music.
Love my Grados SR60's and if the In Ears are are to scratch i will not hesitate to buy as my Shures can be a tad dissapointing on complex music tho are pretty decent on good quality stuff.
Will be used with My Iriver H120 (rockbox) and ms Zune at usually 320kb/s.
Anyone got em?
Cheers.

Re: Grado GR8 In Ear

I'd be interested in these as well if they're much cop. I still have fond memories of using a Grado SR80 with my 128meg mp3 player back in 2000. I doubt they could reproduce that lovely warm punchy sound in an in-ear model but I'd love to be proven wrong . . . .

Grado GR8 Earphones

Yep, we only discovered the Grado GR8 a couple of weeks back. Speaking with the Grado distributor in the UK it seems it may be a little while before they are available here. The UK RRP price is so far unconfirmed.

As soon as pricing and dates are confirmed we will be taking back orders.

They do look very interesting. Based on a balanced armature driver design they are likely to have excellent levels of detail - think Klipsch Image X10, Sleek Audio SA6, Ultimate Ears 700.

Re: Grado GR8 Earphones

There's also the Grado iGi in-ear phones which will be available "fall 2009" at $89.

They certainly look interesting, I love my SR80's but find at times they are unsuitable due to the bulk and open design.

I've found the more I listen to my Denon C551 in ears, I don't really enjoy listening to them (such as on a 10 hour flight!) Therefore I want to replace them with some new IEMs and the cheaper Grados look like they could be just the thing!

Re: Grado GR8 In Ear

The GR8 is landing in the UK next week. These earphones have been getting some decent reviews on Head-fi. I'm itching to hear them!

Grado GR8 earphones

The RRP for the GR8 is £299.99. Reviews I'm reading suggest that the mid-range is very sweet and clear, which makes sense as it's a balanced armature design.

The earphone body on the Grado GR8 is rather large for a balanced armature (normally BA drivers are miniature), so I guess they have been doing some tuning of the chamber.

It's interesting to say the least.

Re: Grado GR8 earphones

Urgh, for that price count me out. I've always been a fan of Grados ever since I owned a pair of SR60 and then upgraded to Sr80. I doubt these will be better then an earphone with a 3-Way Driver.

Re: Grado GR8 In Ear

Hi,

I've been the whole morning reading about these headphones and they're a way too expensive, BUT! I found a Spanish website that by mistake they are selling them for €89: Grado, Gr8 / Portátiles / Auriculares / SUPERSONIDO . I think they ship them also out of Spain (I live in NL, but asked them to ship them to my parents home in Spain).

I've just bought them, so I'll let you know how good or -not hopefully- bad they are :-)

At that price they could be fakes. GB isn't the only place where Grados are expensive, pretty much everywhere except the US gets a raw deal.

Their rep is largely built on that market, where they are stupidly good value for money. That doesn't mean they're over-hyped, just not a great value elsewhere.

I was lucky enough to pick up some RS2 when in the US, and stores aren't supposed to mark them down (publicly), but the RS2i had just come out and I haggled them down to $375. But here in Aus they're $900. At that price, they're not going to sell many at all.

Grado GR8's

Quite simply the best in-ear's I have ever heard! Stunning crisp sound with pheonominal bass and midrange. If you don't have them, then you simply must get them in your ears !!!!!!!! SR-325i's for your inner ear's !!!!!!!!!!!
