Considering how these earplugs are used at live shows etc to protect your hearing, if I were to say... have them in when using headphones for gaming/music etc (to be REALLY sure that the sound levels safe) would that work? or is that actually more dangerous somehow?

I'm going to be buying a pair, for use whenever I feel I might need them... and I've recently had a scare w/ what I believe to be tinnitus in my left ear (not really sure yet, seeing doctor tomorrow) and it's something I'd really rather avoid... so could anyone that knows more about this stuff help me out here?

I also considered just turning the volume down, but I'm not even sure if that's at a safe level... so basically what i'd do is, turn it to what I think is a safe enough level for me and then put in the ear plugs, which in theory should make it A LOT safer unless I'm mistaken here.
