Which Maximum gain: 0dB, 10dB, 20dB for Grado RS1i? Using Lehmann Audio Black Cube

bit confused as to which gain i should use for my RS1i's. I am using the Lehmann Audio Black Cube. Driver matched db on the RS1i's are .05

all that the gain switch on a headphone amp does is increase the amplification level. in theory, the less amplification you can get away with, the better. the grados are pretty efficiant at 32ohm, so you shouldnt need them on high gain. saying that, its up to whatever you feel sounds best. do some testing, as see which you feel sounds best.
however if you just want a straight answer on which setting i would have them on, i would have them on 0db. less amplifying=purer/truer sound.

on a side note, the 0.5db matching of the drivers is just a quality control thing. they test all the drivers pre-assemblly so that you dont get one driver coming through louder than the other. 0.5db driver matching means that the 2 drivers are within 0.5db of each other, so given the same amount of power, they give out the same amount in volume.
btw, they are beautiful headphones. im somewhat jealous. lol. enjoy them for me.

Great advice, thanks. I am currently burning my new RS1i's in using a pro-ject headbox 11, I'm hoping the Lehmann will elevate the Grados to another level.
