Headphones Denon or Sennheiser??

Hey guys,

I'm about to buy a pair of headphones for my iPod and AV Receiver.

My budget is €105/$150 and my options are Denon AHD1001 or Sennheiser HD555...

Denon AHD1001

Sennheiser HD555

What do you think about them?

Thank you!

ALX

Re: Headphones Denon or Sennheiser??

If you can find Creative Aurvana Live! headphones, they are the same OEM model as the Denons and usually cheaper.

I had a set of CAL!s. They were quite fun headphones but lacked a bit of detail. Quite light and comfy but not anywhere near as detailed as my Goldring NS1000s, which aren't that much more expensive, if you look around.

Re: Headphones Denon or Sennheiser??

The Denons being closed would be better if you want to use the headphones with other people in the room. I'd say the Senns would just nudge the choice for me based on sound alone.

I find you normally have to spend a bit more for the same quality sound in a closed headphone as an open one.

Which ones? They make a lot of different sets.

Re: Headphones Denon or Sennheiser??

i tried those denons recently and they are poor. very poor. muddy bass, muffled mids, short treble extention. they just sounded boring. ive not heard the sennheisers though.

i own ultrasone 780's, which are very detailed, accurate, punchy and deep bass response, but not overpowering. however their 14 foot cable and heavy tank like build make them very unportable. amazing phones for home use though.
audio technica are very nice. ESW9's are very well praised, though hard to find now. ES7's are easier to find, but have had mixed reviews. might be worth a trip to head fi.
