Question Reccomend headphones for movies and PS3

We have a new baby in the house and I am looking to purchase some quality headphones £100 - 200 was the budget I was thinking to work with my equipment listed below for watching TV movies and gaming.

What will work for lounging on the sofa ? I dont like in the ear headphones so big cans only please

I have a pair of Senns HD 600/ HD 25-1 and Tritton ATX pro 5.1
My fav, well they all do different things..
You have said your little one has come along, congrats.
If you want to be able to enjoy yourself and hear your bubs, Open Aural are the way to go..
If its complete silence, then Closed..
Tell me what you think and I will get back to you..

If you don't mind open headphones (leak some sound into the room), Grado are excellent and offer a very good range.

Closed is the way I want to go. I looked at some Sennheiser HD595 today for £120 any reviews on these the guy in Richer Sounds assured me they would meet all my needs as I began to ogle a new tv for the bedroom.

I have an old pair of closed Sennheisser in the bedroom which are ok paid about 50 quid for em 10 years ago and they still work a treat.

Let me know your thoughts cheers Paul

Headphones for movies and PS3

The Sennheiser HD595 is the obvious candidate, but don't forget the excellent open back Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 or the also superb semi-open back Beyerdynamic DT880.

Re: Reccomend headphones for movies and PS3

Sennheiser HD595 area good choice, but as I believe are not a fully closed headphone, yes they are big, but open Aural.. EDIT Correct me if I am wrong, I might be using the wrong terminology.. I mean that even though they are closed, they breathe, ie leak through the outer shell allowing better clarity and better sonics..

Read review here, Sennheiser HD595 - Reviews - Advisors - AV Enthusiast Centre - Hi-fi Headphones - Good Gear Guide

Specs Sennheiser Worldwide - HD 595

@ 50 Ohm they will be very easy to drive, mine are 300 Ohm, yes 300, I need a specific headphone amp which I have, Valve/Solid state..
These cans will leak sound, so if its privacy you want, these will really not do the job...

Any suggestions people??

They're not closed, they're open. They leak like all open phones will.

Re: Reccomend headphones for movies and PS3

Thanks for the feedback and links much appreciated. I thinks the 595s will more than fit the bill for what I will use them for.
