In Ears For Small Ears !

I'm looking for a set of In Ears, but they have to be small. I must have weird ears or something, but my canals appear to be quite small. All the phones seem to come with S / M / L tips, and the small size is too big. I dont seem to get on with those Comply thing's either.

It could actually be that in ears aren't for me in the end, i dont know.

Does anyone know of any that are on the small side ?

I'm a big 6' 1" guy with small ears

Re: In Ears For Small Ears !

If the standardised S, M, L that comes with canalphones are not for you, then maybe, maybe upgrading to IEMs which come with small silicone "bullet" tips or the foam tips is for you

If not then I am afraid the only thing left is to get custom IEMs or to forget in-ear and go over-ear (but you'll get better SQ )

Do you mean better SQ with over ears ?

Could someone give me examples of canal phones and IEM's please

Play.com (UK) : Sennheiser CX300 In-Ear Headphones (Black) : Electronics - Free Delivery

Westone 3 True 3-Way Driver Earphones (not UM3 headphones)

That's just an example, the market is huge right now. Note that IEMs offer a far greater selection of tips and insert deeper

Re: In Ears For Small Ears !

Hope you spotted the picture of the fit kit with the W3's which gives you an idea of what you get with IEMs

The 5.Pro's stick out like ol' Frankenstein plugs. It would be an idea to do some research in the direction of what you like. You aren't unfortunately going to be able to demo IEMs, but each manufacturer and then model have their own distinct sound signature

In ear's might not be for you. If you are happy with full sized portable headphones, then pound for pound you are seeing better SQ for your money, although you are sacrificing isolation and portability

Re: In Ears For Small Ears !

I've got a pair of Sennheiser PX100's which i quite like. They just make you look like a numpty when on hol's at the pool etc

Also got Goldring GX 200's, and trying to sell them.

I suppose i wouldn't mind over ears, if they are discrete enough, dont leak too much, and have good SQ.

I like the sound to be nice and clear in the mid and treble, and too be weighty but not too bass heavy. The CX300's seemed bass heavy to me.

There must be some choice out there for my needs

The Super.fi 5 Pro is quite big for an earphone and I would not recommend it if you have smaller ears. They do come with Comply Foam tips, but even then it can be a tight fit.

The Klipsch Image X10 (or even the X5 to a lesser degree) are very small indeed and we often get very positive reports about this earphone from customers with smaller ears. The earphone body is so small that it's comfortable for just about anyone.

Earphones For Small Ears

Just dug up this link about earphones for smaller ears that may be an interesting read. The comments from customers about the Klipsch X10 may be of most interest.

Re: In Ears For Small Ears !

The Klipsch X10 certainly does look like a good option.

Some positive comments on there for the Goldring GX200, but they weren't right for me. Nature of the beast eh.

I've also just been reading about Sennheiser's CX95's. Apparantly they are designed to seal the outside edge of your ear without actually having to be inserted all the way in.
They are obviously cheaper than the X10's, but would i buy the CX95's, then end up buying the X10's
