In earphone advise please.......

Hey all, im in the market for some good isolating earphones. Consistantly the CX300 II have been mentioned as being a quality product but Ive spotted Creative Labs EP-630 which are nearly half the price and made by people who make speakers which gets me thinking "who would I trust to make good earphones"

SO im asking you guys, is it one or the other OR both?

Thanks all!!!!

Couldn't agree more, not only isolation, but sound quality is fuller and more rounded.

Re: In earphone advise please.......

My recommendation is the sony MDR EX71. I've got 4 pairs now, that's how much I like them. For the ipod, the tv, the nintendo DS, and I use a pair through a behringer mixer on my gigs (I'm a drummer and need something reliable for the click tracks I play to). I find they have excellent sound with particularly crisp treble. The sound with the ipod is great. The sound via my headphone amp when watching tv, particularly blu ray is amazing, I prefer them over my sennheiser 580's for that. I don't use the stock black tips because they're a bit flimsy, and have put shure tips on which are thicker rubber. They isolate better, fit tighter, and increase the bass response. You don't need to pay the £32 they normally cost. I think I paid £35 for my first pair a few years ago. I bought 2 brand new pairs last year from a 3rd party seller on amazon for about £6 each, and just received a brand new pair off ebay which cost me £5 inc p&p. Here's a picture of mine with the shure tips.

Dunno about the comply tips, they is fooking expensive

Decided to go for BOTH earphones and as strange as it sounds they both look and sound the same, id go as far to say the cheaper EP-630's are better value for money as although not quite as loud they have more frequency coverage

Goldring GX200s come with comply tips. If you don't mind funny colours they can be had for £14.99 from play.com. Unfortunately they only have pink in stock at the moment although they do come in green at that price when in stock. Ebay sellers sometimes do them at decent prices too. They're usually about £40 RRP.

Alternatively, the S-Jays on offer (see top of forum page) also come with foam tips. I have a pair and am generally very impressed with them.

Re: In earphone advise please.......

I used to own the Sony MX71. It's probably the worst budget canalphone I have tried. Panasonic HJE50 is middle of the park and would on on a par with the EP-630. I would advise trying out the PL30 I just reviewed on the forum. I know the Sennheiser CX- range is recommended a lot the world over but I've never liked them
