Sennheiser CX500 Gaming? or CX500 regular?

I am looking to buy some CX500's after the cable of my old CX300's deteriated. I was very impressed with the CX300's and am looking for an upgrade.

I recently bought some CX500's from Amazon.co.uk for £17 or so, which turned out to be fakes and i revieved a refund. For this reason I will ONLY buy from a Sennheiser authorised dealer, for example AdvancedMp3Players.co.uk

I saw that you can get some "CX500 Gaming" earphones from there, and it looks like a good deal as it is only £30, as opposed the the £70 that a genuine pair of these earphones would normally cost. This IS an authorised retailer, so i'm happy to buy from them.
Here's the link:
http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/...ones.3673.html

But i was wondering, is there a difference between the normal CX500's and the "Gaming" CX500's? What is the difference?
I would be using them for listening to music, not gaming, and if it makes a difference, i mainly listen to heavy metal or rock, so would these "gaming" earphones be appropriate?

What makes a pair of earphones especially for "gaming"?

Thanks.

Re: Sennheiser CX500 Gaming? or CX500 regular?

I wanted to find this out too, as my cx300’s are virtually dead! I had a quick look on their website and used the compare tool and couldn’t see a difference, so I just got them anyway because the normal cx500’s were more expensive elsewhere. Oh and by the way if you buy from advancedmp3players use this code “head10” to get a 10% discount on any headphones you purchase from there, it does work as I have just used it.

No, cos the thing is I don't want gaming headphones, I want earphones for listening to music. It just so happens that these "gaming" cx500's are £39 off.

kishan9, do they sound good for listening to music? better than the cx300's did? (i use to have them too, they fell to peices).
i'm not sure if the "gaming" range will be specifically geared towards gaming or not, can you notice anything?

Thanks

Hey Robwalsh, I ordered them today, they should be coming tomorrow, I’ll give them a good test and let you know. I’m buying them solely for music purposes. I just thought they can’t be worse than the normal CX500’s (I have never tried them) or the CX300’s that I had, if anything maybe a bit better, but I shall find out tomorrow.

Ok, thanks for that.
They are £20 more than the regular CX500's so surely they can't be worse...

Re: Sennheiser CX500 Gaming? or CX500 regular?

I got my “Gaming” CX500’s today and they are amazing, the gaming thing only means that there a few more ear buds and accessories but believe me they sound amazing, well worth £30. They do sound much better than my CX300’s, so well worth it for the price. If you were happy with your CX300’s you will like these. My advice is to just go for them.

Re: Sennheiser CX500 Gaming? or CX500 regular?

I've heard those are sweet. Is that the one with the microphone or am I getting it mixed up with senn's PC series?

No, they don't have a microphone. It would be cool if they did though.

kishan9, I ordered them today so they should come tomorrow. Thanks for the advice, I can't wait to try them out
I'll get back to you on it

Re: Sennheiser CX500 Gaming? or CX500 regular?

Well, I've tried them out and they sound AWESOME!
You have to spend a while finding the right size buds for your ears though, I went for the smaller sized "enhanced" ones.
I even tried them for gaming - personally, I don't understand why you would need such high quality earphones for gaming, but they do sound very good.

The build quality is much better than my old CX 300's. The cable is thicker and more durable, it is slightly longer and they earphone jack is much stronger so it wont break.

They should last me a while, and I am very impressed by them.
I would recommend them for music as well as gaming.
