Cool binaural test recording for headphones

If you wanna check out what your headphones can do, take a listen to this.

CLICK

It's a dummyhead in the middle of a room with high quality mics attached to the ear positions. A german male and female narrate what is happening and the spatial soundstage is amazing, especially in certain sections such as when he opens a window. If you like this, I've got one or two more of someone who has binaural mics in each ear and walks around outdoors recording the sounds. It's like being there. I listen with my faithful old Sennheiser 580 HD precisions through a custom built headphone amp made for me by a friend at head-fi, and it sounds really special.

It'd love it if you could post the others - just about to listen to this.

What headamp do you have btw?

Yep, I can certainly post a few more. I'm glad you asked about the amp, I actually just posted a picture of it in another forum.
My modest little bedroom setup

It's a custom made Linsley Hood K2100 'CHIARA' headphone amp. It's a kit amp. The chap at head-fi that put it together for me (nickname PinkFloyd) has listened to lots of production headphone amps and he really rated this one above most. He had a choice of certain components he could put in and he selected some higher quality ones that he thought were the best.

This link below shows the respect enthusiasts had for Linsley hood's work.

Re: Cool binaural test recording for headphones

Looks like a nice piece of kit, I'm having a Millet Hybrid MiniMax built for me buy a HeadFi member [Soloz2] too, although I know him from elsewhere.

Here's a pic of one he's built - I won't be having LED's though

I'm sorry for derailing the thread!

Re: Cool binaural test recording for headphones

Here is another interesting (and quite soothing) binaural recording, about 6 and a half minutes long. Ducks, kids, wind blowing in ears, water, etc. Really sort of puts you right in this mans shoes so to speak and places you in the great outdoors while never actually leaving your seat

Walking around

Oooh, that looks pretty! The LED and the volume control looks a bit like mine, if that's a chrome finished volume knob. Oh you're not derailing the thread at all, it's a pleasure talking about headphone amps. If you don't mind me asking, how much approx are you paying for it? I think I paid somewhere in the region of £350 and that was 6 years back. Some of those guys at head-fi are pretty amazing.

Re: Cool binaural test recording for headphones

I'm paying about the same, it's $150 worth of parts at the base spec but I've gone for alot better spec with Blackgate capacitors and Vit-Q resistors among many other things plus labor and shipping from the States. I'll be using it with HD600s which should be here sometime next week

Re: Cool binaural test recording for headphones

Love 20, the sound of the sea, very powerful, nice wash and stereo panning effect And 14, the tuning forks, or am I hearing wine glasses being struck.

Here's 10 mpc's and mp3's I just uploaded you might enjoy.
There's a dog barking in one of them which I like, it's very vivid.
