is 400 ohms headphones too much for pc ?

is 400 ohms headphones too much for pc ?

im looking at getting some beyerdynamic dt100 or dt 770 for recording with my pod x3.
The thing i need answering is that i want to also use them for other things such as straight into my pc which is astarndard packard bell 2006 pc with realtek sound card.
Also i might want to use them from time to time with my Ps3 so i would use the headphone out on my lcd samsung tv. Is 250 - 400 ohms too much impedance and not sound right with this. Should i get some headphones that are lower with about 16-80 ohms ??

Does anyone know whats best for the pod x3 ?

It's not if you've got a decent aftermarket card in your PC, and you've also got an amp, and you have neither.

400ohms 770's? they come in 80 and 250 ohms.

The 250 needs an amp, a good desktop one, with power. The 80 should still really have an amp to get the best from it, and no, a PC soundcard and... bleeuchh, a PS3 are not good sources to do any justice to this sort of headphone.

SQ is only as good as your worst component - good phones don't do it all by themselves.

I would look at easier to drive phones, sub 100ohm generally don't need amping. For your uses, 100 quid or so Grado's and Senn's are worth checking out
