Philips SHL9800 or Senn PX200/100?

I have been spending a lot of time on the net to search for a good headphone for my Xperia. Got an earbud Philips SHE7850 and it sounds good though I had to replace the rubber cap with sponge from another bud for a fuller sound. Now for a mini I narrowed down on AKG-K450/430/420. It is a rip off here in the UAE. About GBP 120 for K450 and GBP 80 for K420 from Harman House. It costs just half that for K450 and 1/4th for K420 from Amazon UK. Sad that they do not deliver in the UAE.

So now the candidates are Philps SHL9800 or Senn PX200/PX100. Any opinion?

I've got the Xperia, you'll experience similar problem with sound quality despite how much you spend on 'phones - the Xperia just isn't a good player.

Definately avoid the Senns, they will only compound problem (I've got PX100, they just don't match at all, plus they are open so not much use outdoors)

I've not heard Philips so can't comment but that price is a little more than I would want to invest if the Xperia was my only source of music.

Re: Philips SHL9800 or Senn PX200/100?

Thanks, you saved some money for me.

As an intermediate I got Philips SHE7850 Earbuds. Excellent match to Xperia. Very good sound and loud too as it is 16 ohms.15-20% volume on the MediaPlayer with main volume at about 40% enough to rock. Stock EPs are 32ohms that may be the reason for lower sound with them. Was thinking of getting Core Player or something for the EQ earlier. Now dropped it.

Only thing the chord is too long and dangles and tangles if you don't tie up after plugging into the adpator that comes with the phone. Phone call quality is a bit muddy. And the stock rubbers on 7850 hurts. Replaced with sponges from another one and better sound now. Hear nothing happening around in my office with this on. Two weeks on with that now.

Today I got SONY MDR-NE2 - lanyard type. Very clear sound. bass is firm not so punchy as 7850.Mids and Highs seem better on this than former. Better cable management.

I don't intend to go the Ipod way. We already have so many options to hear music. Main amp, Bose 321, Sangean WR3(CD, USB, SD, Aux-in), three phones, iriver player etc.
