Di I have to "Break in" Sennheiser CX500 headphones?

Do I have to "break in" Sennheiser CX500 headphones?

Just bought a pair of these from Play. Initially happy although base seems a bit boomy at times. That said - I have already heard detail in songs that I haven't had before.

Do I need to break them in for a while? Is it ok to plug them into an ipod at medium vol say overnight, or do they have to be in a pair of ears. (might sound like a silly question but I know hifi speaker drivers can be trashed if not fitted in a cabinet. Wondered if it's the same for headphones..)

No, just wear them. I'm a burn in heretic, after being told by some that every pair of headphones, amps and sources I've owned need xxx hours of burn in to sound their best.

They sound the same. What can change over time is your perception of how they sound.
