Thanks: Gave 153, Got 289 | In ear headphones for my ipod??
Hi,
I've just bought a pair of Sennheiser CX500 headphones.
Whilst these headphones are great and just what i was looking for they do have one major drawback which means they have to be replaced.
The cord on them has to hang down in front. My last pair of headphones had a much longer cord going from the right ear meaning that when I wasn't using them they could just rest around my neck rather then me having to shove them in my pocket resulting in 2 mins spent untangling them next time I wanted to listen to my ipod.
So, what I need is a very similar pair of headphones to the CX500 in terms of price, feel and quality but with the cord length I mentioned above.
Any ideas??
Please help.

It is a problem for me though.
I presume all Sennheiser headphones have the same cord type?

What you need to look out for is an asymmetrical cable as opposed to a symmetrical cable.
Most earphones have symmetrical cable designs, but as pwood points out the CX300 (and the Sennheiser CX300-II) have asymmetrical cables.

Shame you don't have any in stock.

Another alternative is earphones with cabling going over the ears and down your side (or down back inside clothing). For example the Sennheiser IE range and SoundMAGIC PL30/PL50 fit this way. See this photo of the IE7 on an ear for a photo of how it works. This design means you can just pop the earphones out of your ear and rest the cabling on your shoulders.
This style of earphone also normally has a cable tensioner that you slide up the cable to the back of your neck(not shown in the photo above). It effectively moves the Y in the cable so it is snug up against the back of your neck. This sounds complex, but it actually works really well to keep the earphones on your head (even for running).
It's another alternative...
