headphones

Hi guys
Looking to buy some headphones for a maximum of £60.
It is going to be connected to an onkyo SR 876. I am gonna be using it mainly for games (xbox 360/PS3) and occasional music (hip-hop,rnb, rare groove etc)

Any suggestions will be helpful

Thanks

I was considering getting wireless ones but rather have maximum quality for my money.

Re: headphones

Does the onkyo have a headphone out? If not, where will you connect the phones? I'm not up on receiver connection so just throwing the questions out there...

I'd imagine you'd need a USB from your source to the onkyo, to take advantage of it's digital decoding to analogue (I'm assuming it does this).

If no to either query, then you're left with the PS3 DAC and the onkyo just as an amp, and they won't do much for good quality phones.

Re: headphones

Seconded, my amp has a terrible headphone out- my pc soundcard sounds 1million times better.

Quality headphones probably will sound awful, especially as they go up in impedance. Get yourself some 'expensive' dixons or argos ones- they will probably sound great for the money and will be OK until you save up and get some half decent ones and a mini amp.

Thanks for the quick reply guys
I was using my dads wireless seinheissers that had surround sound and they sounded decent. I would get them again but ive heard that wired phones are so much better.

Wired are better pound for pound vs wireless. But classy phones will depend on back up gear to shine. Not all will need amps, but sources are important too.
