Help me decide which Sennheiser in ears to get...

Choices are:
Sennheiser CX300 (MK I) - £17.58
Sennheiser CX300 Eco Ear Canal Headphones White: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Sennheiser CX300-II - £28.53
Sennheiser CX 300 II Precision Noise Isolating: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Sennheiser CX400-II - £34.99
Play.com (UK) : Sennheiser CX 400 Mark II Precision Headphones (White) : Electronics - Free Delivery

Im stuck, the CX300's i have heard, enjoy, excellently priced at £17.58, but is it worth streching my budget to a MK II set, what do you guys reckon out of those 3.....

I dont use earphones that much these days, infact, the only pair i own atm is the standard iphone ones, which i cannot use as they fall out! so basically im not too aware of the better quality headphones. I am borrowing these Ultimate Ears Super.Fi - Universal Fit Earphones - 5: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo off my brother for the weekend, and they seem to be a nice set, sound good if not a bit bassy for me (im into rock music more than his bass stuff!) although a bit pricey....but yeah, out of the sennheisers guys?

Personally, I don't rate the senn's - yeah, they sell a shedload of CX300, but I don't know why, probably the pricepoint is the most popular for people getting something other than the give away buds.

I found them all bass treble, no mids, no warmth. Improving the clarity on the 300 in the II sounds like they'll be even more treble biased.

Any other suggestions then? I've used some Sennheisers in the past but open to others.

Ok. If you don't think the sennheisers are any good then please suggest some better for £35 or less, I'm pretty open.

Out of those three though, which should I be looking at. I heard the cx500 from last year were a bit poor, so considering. The cx400-II are now replacing those, are they better this year? Are the cx300-II worth 2x the amount of the mkI?

Re: Help me decide which Sennheiser in ears to get...

*I think* the only difference between MKi and MKii in the CX--- range is that MKii has in-line volume control

If you like the CX300 then I would not advise you against buying them. They do the best job out of all the budget canals in that they manage the thumpy bass sound better than the rest. I would much prefer the MX series, fond memories of my old MX500 here, as unlike the CX series they do not have uncontrolled bass all over the place

Sennheiser are strange. PX100 is great. CX uncontrolled. Sport series has no bass. Their IE offerings manage to compound the expansive sparkly sound with excessive bass

I used to own loads of cheap canals across several brands before upgrading to IEMs. My real advice would be how much do you have to spend? You have discovered the UE's, although you have formed your own opinion on the sound signature of that one model

The CX400 and CX500 get decidedly better ratings than the CX300. I have only heard the CX300 so could not say either way. JBL 220 and Denon C551 seem to get favourable reports in preference over the CX range

Tempting It's either going to be these, CX300's like the OP was looking at or Denon AHC 252.

Still not sure myself what to get.

How do you rate PX100?
I was listening to my friends ones and the bass was great on the imo!
