HDMI switch from www.hdcable.co.uk

Has anyone bought from here:

http://www.hdcable.co.uk/products/hd-switches/

I have my HTPC in the next room (to reduce the noise) so the cable run is a fair length. Maybe 10m. All has been fine for months.

Since changing my HTPCs graphics card I am now getting occasional sparklies. Nothing else has changed, have checked cable with other source and the problem goes away. I tried another HDMI switch I have in-line with the HTPC and Lumagen and this also seems to eliminate the problem.

I can only assume the new card has a "lower" output and needs boosting over this length?

Anyway I was looking for a cheap HDMI amplifier and came across this:

http://www.hdcable.co.uk/products/hd...s/CESW0301MAB/

Specs look too good to be true for the price! All the switches seem very cheap.

Comments please.

although i can't vouch for the switch itself, i can for the seller. i've bought quite a few cables from them (from their web site and ebay store) and the quality of the product and the service has been spot on every time

good luck

Re: HDMI switch from www.hdcable.co.uk

This is why you often see people making comments about having to test with the specific equipment when using longer cables since as you have experienced, different equipment can affect signal strength.

With regard to the switch you linked; obviously you'll need to use it with the option power supply. The only bit that bothers me slightly is that although it is described as an amplifier, amplification isn't actually listed as a technical feature. Probably just an oversight but worth checking since that is the feature you need the most.

I notice they also do an amplifier (no switch) for £20 incl power supply.

Still not sure though. Have no idea what the delivery cost is without registering etc.

For £54 I can get the Oppo HM-31 delivered to my friends APO if I'm prepared to wait 10 days.

Re: HDMI switch from www.hdcable.co.uk

Hello Rob100

It may be better to stick an Equaliser on the far end of the installed cable retaining the current Switch - see http://www.tmfsolutions.co.uk/Octava_HDE-UK.htm
