HDMI to DVI-I with NEC VT695

Hi All,

Im in the process of purchasing and setting up equipment for my first proper AV set-up.

Im getting the Onkyo 606 in a couple of weeks and currently have an NEC VT695 projector. (which is DVI-I)
I want to upgrade to a full HD projector in the future, but need ot save some pennies!

Ive purchased some HDMI wall plates from Nexxia, and also some premium HDMI cable which I am running through my walls before they get plastered.

My inputs into the Onkyo will be SKY HD, and a HTPC with Blu-ray drive for now.... PS3 in the near future!

Right, background info explained (hopefully! ).... and my (probably dumb) question is, will the my projector be OK with using a HDMI to DVI-I converter?

Cheers,

Kris

Re: HDMI to DVI-I with NEC VT695

The big question here is , is the projector HDCP compliant , Ive been looking at cannot get a definite answer from any website ,

http://www.necdisplay.com/Products/Compare/

According to NEC's own comparison chart above , its not , or at least its not listed as compliant whereas others are ... so Im assuming because of the omission that its not.

If its not , then blu rays and Sky HD are not going to work via any HDMI feed.

You could always feed it an analog VGA signal though.

Re: HDMI to DVI-I with NEC VT695

Thanks for the pointer Andy, Im still new to HD and wasnt fully aware of HDCP.
Ive had a quick look also and got varied results..... one in my favour (the PDF for projector)

http://www.support.nec-display.com/d...1_manual_e.pdf

I think I'll email NEC directly and ask them.
I could always purchase a HDMI - DV-I adapter and give it a go with a mates PS3. Dont know anyone with Sky HD who I could ask.

Can anyone confirm if they are doing this with a VT695?

Cheers again!
