OK - here's an odd one.

Upgraded the PS3's firmware last night and then discovered that I'd lost the picture. After a manual reset and endless faffing, I eventually realised that I was losing the PS3 picture over HDMI whenever it booted or exited applications. It transpires that I don't lose picture when this happens if the Xbox 360 is turned on.

To figure out if it is the PS3 or my current HDMI switch box (which is the three port versio of this) at fault I tried a few other combinations. The Xbox 360 is fine through the switch box, but I can't get any picture on my V+ unless the Xbox 360 is turned on too.

So I'm guessing this is an HDMI switch box issue and not a TV or PS3 fault? Opinions.

And presuming this to be the case, any recommendations for a new switch box. Don't need anything fancy - just something cheap but that will do the job.

With your current switch box I would suspect that this is the problem :

'No power supply required.'

It is having to steal the power it needs from the HDMI cables which can cause problems.

Make sure your next one has its own power supply and you have a better chance of things working as expected.

Thanks a lot MarkTaylor - in that case I'm thinking either this from Ebuyer (which could be with me by tomorrow) or this from Amazon (the auto switching sounds good). Would would you recommend?

I haven't used either, but give it a few hours and I'm sure someone will be along that is familiar with one or other of these two.
