Question Will picture deteriorate over 3 m HDMI or component?

Hi,
I'm planning how I'm going to set up my TV room, and am worried about picture quality degrading due to my TV being about 2.5 m away from where I'm proposing ot put my 'boxes' (i.e. Sky+ box, Blu-ray player etc.).

Should I have any concerns with cables of this length?

The cables will be carried in some plastic trunking that I set into some chases I'll cut in the walls.

Many thanks!

No loss from HDMI as its digital, but may get loss / interference on Component as its analogue - so you need good quality, low loss, screened, component cable(s).

3m doesn't even begin to be a problem for any properly constructed HDMI or component cable if that is the actual cable length.

Do measure up carefully though as it is very easy to underestimate how much cable you need when running through trunking.

Hello SmoothBall

If you had a Zero somewhere in that cable run length you would start to worry - at 3.5m you ought not to have a problem.

Joe

PS SKY+ is RGB SCART or S-Video!
