hi all, little question about around the minefield that seems to be HDMI

I'm currently planning to buy all new cinema gear, most of it will be hdmi 1.3 with perhaps the exception of an hdmi 1.2 jvc dla-hd1 projector.

I like the idea of hdmi 1.3 because of the loseless sound formats. Recently tho i read a US av post about how HDMI is 2 way chained system and that even tho the projector isnt concerned about sound because its a 1.2 device it could effectively knock the whole chain to run at 1.2 operation and therefore loses the ability to pass and process lossless sound to the projector?

Does that make sense?

It ought not to be a problem - lots of folk now running systems as per your description and receiving HD Audio over HDMI into a suitable AV Receiver.

so im clear, is the term 'HD Audio' used as a general way of describing audio down HDMI or more specifically for the new lossless formats?

I really want to dust the credit card off and buy this HD1 but id be fairly crushed if i found out the Onkyo 606 wasnt getting the full hd audio from the ps3 cos of 1.3/1.2 clashes further downstream.

I'm using 'HD Audio' to cover the ability to send Bitstream lossless to your intended AV Receiver for Processing in the AV Receiver.

Best to talk to a Dealer who handles the DLA-HD1, the TX-SR606 and lots of HDMI Switch/Distribution devices
