SCART to HDMI question

I'm just about to buy my first Flat screen LCD which will be wall mounted in the lounge. My existing kit is still old style SD S-video & SCART and I dont want to connect to the new TV by SCART as the holes in the wall and joists will need to be huge so I hope to run a single hdmi cable from a remote location about 10m away. Can I use a upscaling HDD DVD recorder to provide the bridge between my old analogue stuff and hdmi so that I can watch a SCART source (eg Sky) on the hdmi input of the TV. If so can anyone recommend a suitable inexpensive HDD recorder that will do the trick (I' cant get a terrestrial TV signal so integrated tuners are not required)

Re: SCART to HDMI question

Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer or Samsung. I use a similar setup to get sky on my projector by connecing via my HDD/DVD recorder and output it via component. Obviously the HDD/DVD recorder will need to be on for you to do this.

Make sure you test the cabling before finalising the installation. 10m should be okay for HDMI though.
