I just got this HDMI cable

http://www.maxview.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh0...R0003#aMXR0003I just got that cable today ready to connect my PS3 to my new TV KDL40W4000 when it arrives tomorrow.

But it doesn't say on the box if it supports 1080p although I assume it would because it looks like it is a good quality cable. But also is it a version 1.3 HDMI one? which i think is needed to take full advantage of the PS3.
anyone else got this cable?

Re: I just got this HDMI cable

If it's a short length cable, don't worry about 1080p or v1.3 (no such thing for HDMI cables, it's either cat 1 or cat 2 speed rated). If it doesn't work send it back. See the FAQ at hdmi.org or bluejeanscables.com for more information. I've yet to hear about a short length cable not carrying the required information so just plug it in and enjoy and don't worry about what's stamped on the packaging or down the side of the sleeve.

Thanks I was looking at many places in town today some stated on boxes they support 1080p and were version 1.3 etc and some didn't say anything although some say they only support 1080i and doesnt mention 1080p at all so i wasn't sure and in the end got this one.
It is 1.5metres long. How can i tell it supports 1080p? Will my PS3 or TV say theres a problem if it doesn't?
thanks

I just read part of the FAQ at hdmi.org and it says rather then looking for version numbers look for features instead. It says on the box that it ENSURES CRYSTAL CLEAR PICTURE AND VIBRANT NATURAL COLOURS think that means it should be fine then and like you said it doesn't matter for short cables.

I've also emailed the manufacturer to find out.
thanks

Re: I just got this HDMI cable

The only good thing about printing 1080p on the box etc. is that in the unlikely event of it not passing a 1080p signal, you can take it straight back. I'm afraid a lot of manufacturer's have been preying on the buying public's fears. You just need to look on the high st. most of them suspiciously stock one cheap(ish) cable, one mid-priced cable and then a top-of-the-line cable at £muchos. If you do a search on the topic, you can read and also witness first hand some of the BS that is uttered by poorly trained employees stating that you NEED to pay the extra. Even £3 ebuyer HDMI leads, cheapies from screwfix, freebie leads etc. etc. work. It's only when you're talking about long lengths that you start to get dropouts etc. If you set the PS3 to output 1080p and the picture displays it, voila' it's worked. If it doesnt' (as I said unlikely) then take it back.
