Best Splitter for SKY HD Box? TV & DVD Recorder into Sky HD Box

Hi

Can someone please tell me what the best splitter would be for this.....

OK, basically, I want to have an HDMI cable running from my Sky HD box to my TV and from my Sky HD Box to my DVD Recorder for recording stuff from SKY HD.

Obviously the SKY HD Box only has one HDMI slot, so I need a splitter, and am wondering what the best splitter for this particular use would be? My SKY HD box is a PACE Box.

Thanks!

The effort would be futile, it is impossible to record Sky HD via HDMI due to HDCP content protection encryption.

You're kidding? Bloody hell. I'm using a scart cable from SKY HD to my DVD Recorder and it's fine, so is it only HDMI? No way round it?

Does your recorder even have an HDMI input?

It is certainly not common to find them on recorders as inputs for exactly the reason Jamie mentions.

Even if it did have an input. is it capable of recording HD resolutions? Most are not so you'd have a problem anyway.

Re: Best Splitter for SKY HD Box? TV & DVD Recorder into Sky HD Box

Your SCART cable is carrying an SD signal to the DVD-R - even if your viewing an HD channel on your SKY HD box.

HD capable Blu-ray recorders are just becoming available - at a premium price and with limited recording capabilities due to the HDCP encryption that's present on most copyrighted broadcasts.

Of course some resourceful souls will be working out how to circumvent HDCP and most likely how to use a PC as an HD recorder!
