HDCMP31-UK - Wii, PS3, Foxsat HDR Connectivity

Hi Guys,

Has anyone got the HDCMP31-UK? If so whats it like?

I would like it to control PS3, Wii & Foxsat HDR. They would be located approx 2-3 metres away from the TV. Would it do these boxes ok?

How do you switch between sources and how do you control the freesat box? Eg, could I use my freesat remote to change the channel?

Im just a bit unclear if it will do what I would like it to do.

Cheers,

Hello G WOLF

You control the Octava switch using the supplied Credit Card style remote or the front panel Toggle switch.

Nothing changes in terms of controlling your source kit - you use the Humax Remote, Sony Remote/controller and Wii controller as normal.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds silly, but how does the humax remote infra red in the living room switch the box under-stairs or am i missing something?

Cheers,

Also, just as another potential option can i distribute the signal to two or more rooms?

Cheers.

Hello G WOLF,
No one said that the "humax remote infra red in the living room switch the box under-stairs".

All joe was saying is that each remote has individual IR codes for particular units. As for splitting the signal i would use Octava HDDA12-UK 1x2 HDMI Splitter

Thanks for your reply HDMIHead,

Your quite right he didnt say that. So my question is, how does the remote work? Do they some how work through the TV or do I need some kind of receiver in the living room?

I like the look of the item in the link you posted btw. Could i combine the two units?

Thanks in advance!

Hello G WOLF

You will require some form of IR Extender - either hard wired over RF or CAT5 cable or a suitable RF enabled wireless controller.

If you already have an aerial network in place the RF 'magic eye' style cable extender will be the most cost effective solution.

Do you require all of the sources to be viewed in the extra rooms, what size/type of displays in the extra rooms and are you OK with all displays viewing just one source at any one time?

Hi Joe,

I have nothing in place at the minute so I am looking for the best solution which will work the best. I have my front room where I would preferably like no set top boxes or games consoles and these will be under the stairs (max 2mts away). My TV is going to be put into a stud wall so I can hide all of the cables.

I have a wii, ps3, foxsat hdr plus I would like surround sound for the front room. Could I house all of these under the stairs and make it work ok? If so what do I need?

I have found from the help of this forum:

Wii and HDMI Switch
HDCMP31-UK

TV Link
Global Invacom Ltd tvLINK

I would ideally like to share the sources around the house, but I don’t mind if only one source can be viewed at a time as each independent TV will be able to watch different TV channels.

I would like to share the sources between the living room, dining room and three bedrooms. Does this seem possible? If you could please respond with any help that would be great.

I believe the Wii and PS3 switching will be ok done by the controllers (if not too far away) as they are Bluetooth and infra red so no cabling will be required to switch these (with the addition of a wirefree Wii sensor bar). It would just be for the Foxsat and the surround sound I would need some sort of switching solution?

Or, if I have completely gone off on a tangent then please respond with how best to do it ignoring my thoughts J

Hope you can help.

Thanks,

Greg.

Hello G WOLF

Everything on your wish list is perfectly feasible - lots of AVForums members have similar requirements.

101 ways to achieve what you require and with a bit of homework and guidance from your supplier's its relatively painless to achieve as a DIY project.

Drop me a PM if you want a bit of guidance.

Hi G,

get a TV link plus (as noted above) and off you go

Also its worth considering a decent all in one remote, I've got a logitech harmony (£100+ or so), which ties everything together, it controls the tv, sky, surround sound, octava switch and mac mini - all from one remote!

I'm using the octava for the wii, but i havent managed to get the vga working on anything, have you had a play?

cheers

Will
